Whether we pick an open mic spot to jam at, or a place to meet, anything is good to start until there's a good amount of people to have some fun.

Think: Joe Cocker, Allman Brothers, Stones, Clapton, BB King, plus some ol garage band favorites including Van Morrison's Gloria. This is primarily rock/rock-blues. It's loud, on purpose. I'm sure there are good folk, jazz, bluegrass, and country jams around. This isn't one. Booze and etc. are not invited. BYO bev. We chip about $15 each t …
I recently posted this ad on Craigslist: I'm a keyboard player, suburban dad, 40, formerly a touring musician now a computer nerd. I want to play music regularly but I don't want that music to be from the 50's and 60's. I also can't join your band and start touring (as much fun as that would be). I am searching for a gig that has the following characteristics: - competent musicians - this means that you know how to play, can pick up tunes by ear and are comfortable just sitting down and jamming …

We're trying to gather a group (4~5) of "like-minded" musicians who want to sharpen their playing skills. For anyone interested in performing and/or learning traditional Cuban music and meeting fellow Cuban and hispanic music performers, let's meet up and jam! For the most part, this is just a Cuban music-focused jam session, but now and again we'll welcome teachers to perform workshops for more structured teaching. Also, while it's a distinct possibility that we'll perform in front of them at some point, this is a meetup for *musicians* interested in Cuban music, not dancers.
